Crowns & Root Canals

Crowns are designed to strengthen and protect the remaining tooth structure and improve the appearance of your teeth. A "cap," "jacket" or "crown" will restore a broken, heavily filled or cracked tooth to an ideal size and shape. This may also be recommended after root canal therapy has been completed, since the tooth is more apt to fracture.

Root Canals

In the situation where a tooth's pulp (nerve and blood supply) becomes infected or inflamed, treatment of the root canal may be necessary to save the tooth or relieve severe pain.  This consists of removing the nerve that lies within the root of the tooth.  As opposed to before, this is generally a very comfortable procedure with modern techniques. Our practice can perform root canals on all teeth, when necessary. With more complicated cases or surgeries, however, the patient is usually referred to a specialist (endodontist).
